Anna Marchisio, Business Development Manager at Hensel Recycling, is featured in the current issue of “Recycling International” magazine with an interview on “Women in the recycling industry”.

Born in Italy, she has been Business Development Manager at Hensel Recycling since 2015 and has been active in the precious metals recycling industry since 2005.

Women in the precious metals industry

The „Women in PGM” network was founded recently, and Anna Marchisio is a member. The aim is to bring women from different areas of the PGM industry together to further strengthen the role of women within this sector. Many companies are already dealing with the fact that female professionals are currently still underrepresented at various management levels. The “Women in PGM” network faces this challenge as a unique opportunity to further increase the proportion of women within companies and in the industrial sector. The job titles of the participants are diverse, from recycling to mine production or logistics professionals – this is what characterizes the network. “The European Chapter of this association is currently being set up and it is very inspiring to be part of it”, comments Anna Marchisio.

The scrap recycling sector is currently undergoing a kind of transformation – away from a male-dominated business that is often perceived as “dirty” – to a high-tech industry that stands for values and sustainability while increasing the proportion of women, a trend that is impressive.

The market situation – review and outlook

Anna Marchisio also comments on the volatile development of the PGM market and gives a brief review of the market situation and the milestones of Hensel Recycling in 2021. The impact of the pandemic on the business situation as well as a look into the future and the challenges for the still young 2022 will be finally tackled.
