Instead of Christmas presents for their customers and business partners in 2019, Hensel Recycling once more supported the Society for the Promotion of the Aschaffenburg Children’s Hospital e.V. with a donation of 2500 euros.

The donation will be used in the Sociopaediatric Centre (SPZ) of the Aschaffenburg Children’s Hospital for the music therapy project. Children with various symptoms and illnesses, including developmental delays, multiple disabilities, spastic paralysis and movement disorders, are treated in the SPZ. The music therapy program, which is funded by donations, is one building block in the holistic therapy of the young patients. “Music is the door to the soul” – for this reason, this method is often employed in the treatment of depression and anxiety, as well as in patients who are grieving or have behavioural problems.

The music therapy project is for young people in our area which either had a difficult start to life or who, because of health or social issues, need active support in various ways, including music therapy, in order to return to a “normal” life.

Music therapist Ms. Breszki visits the Aschaffenburg Children’s Clinic regularly to support actively these children through music therapy. Many children are rather boisterous when they are initially confronted with the instruments, of which there are now a large number. During the treatment, this develops into a musical exchange between the patients and the therapist, becoming a new way in which the patients can open themselves up to life. This communication makes it possible for the children to take further steps along their road to recovery and conjures a touch of confidence onto their faces.

Clemens Hensel visited to see for himself how the donation is used and handed over the cheque personally to Stefan Kittel from the Society for the Promotion of the Aschaffenburg Children’s Hospital e.V., as well as to Prof. Dr. Jörg Klepper, Chief Physician of the Aschaffenburg Children’s Clinic.

Hensel Recycling has been supporting non-profit associations in the region for many years. Helping children in need is part and parcel of social responsibility for both management and staff. Among other things, Hensel Recycling also supports the “Du musst kämpfen!” initiative which translates as “YOU HAVE TO FIGHT!” and facilitates special sports programmes and psychosocial support for children suffering from cancer and their loved ones.
